Melissa Wabnitz Pumayugra | Milk Poem 16

Half A Cup, Nothing Less

Each morning my husband
smells the refrigerated milk,
stirs coffee, rinses the spoon,
presents the cup in its glory.

Sure, it’s nothing remarkable,
but a tiny declaration in itself.
For the benevolence of marriage
isn’t held in diamonds,
but roasted beans, lovingly steeped.
